I can't believe I forgot to post about something very important last month - our birthdays! (Duh!!) Truthfully, July was kind of a whirlwind and our birthdays happened rather fast this year. We decided to forgo a big celebration since we'd just come off a week in Massachusetts. It was a good thing because I ended up home sick with a summer cold on my big day and thanks to JSM, we had a little celebration at home with the usual ice cream cake. It was a big birthday for us - we are both officially in the later part of our respective decades....my how fast time goes by. I've already spent 9 birthdays with this wonderful guy.....looking for to many, many, more!!
To JSM Love, KLM
This is 48 and 37!
I also got a chance to go over to the tri-cities (Richland, Pasco, Kennewick, WA) by train to see my sweet friend JK! I am so proud of her! Not only did she move to the other side of the state to create a great little life for herself, but she also completed her first Half Ironman this year. She inspires me and I had such a great visit with her.....I miss her, but now that I know it's such an easy trip I'll definitely be making it more often. Traveling by train is the most wonderful experience....there's plenty of leg room, it's quiet, people are comfortable and the gentle lull of the train provides a peaceful opportunity for a nap. And the lounge car, with it's roof of windows, is a fantastic place to spend an hour at sunset if you're lucky enough to get a seat.
The view from the train.....it was a beautiful summer evening!
We went to an art show and bought hats made out of old man's pants! Cutest hats and booth....
We visited Walla Walla....
And a winery....
The landscape is so different in eastern Washington.
This is Washington, too!
We took a sunset walk along the river with our cameras!
I love that it's lush and green in one direction and brown and dry in the other....
My morning view from the train on the way home to Vancouver.....Mt. Hood ALWAYS puts a smile on my face!
One more trip this summer.....PNLA conference in Boise this Tuesday and a weekend in Napa for a dear friend's wedding. And then we're home for a stretch. Looking forward to settling back into the swing of things.
xoxo
