Let the planting begin!

I love spring! JSM does, too. He loves to garden and I love to reap the benefits! It's not that I don't enjoy gardening, it's just that JSM loves it more. But I have promised to be more involved this year with the planning and the planting and I'm looking forward to it! Yesterday we took a trip 20 miles north to visit Tsagawa Nursery in Woodland, WA. I love that place! They have the most beautiful Japanese Maples for sale (as you know.....my favorite!) not to mention every beautiful flower under the sun. The major disappointment this year? No dahlias to be found.....anywhere! But, we did go home with some beautiful blooms to start this year's cutting garden!

This year's inspiration was purchased at New Seasons in Vancouver, but I am definitely keeping my flowers in a mason jar this year - so charming!

More choices...

Our wheelbarrow full of flowers and fillers!

We ended up with a starter collection for this year's garden: 4 snapdragons, a hydrangea bush, 2 blueberry bushes, 2 rose bushes, some pretty greenish yellow filler, another Japanese Maple, and a green euryops (a little tree with yellow flowers). Not a bad start for day one! We'll be on the lookout for my requests: dahlias, zinnias, camellias, and whatever else JSM wants.

I can't wait to get our garden started this week! Thank God for longer days.....It's light until 8:30 which means JSM can plant in the evening while I work until 8 pm. at the library. Thanks, JSM, for letting me be a part of the selection process this year! Hopefully, we'll get the garden planted in the next two weeks. Stay tuned for more photos.....
