O(hhh!)man

After 9 days in the UAE the final leg of our journey took us to the best destination of all.....Oman! We rented a car in Dubai and drove to Muscat and thankfully, didn't hit any pedestrians on the way there. We had heard that people just walk out on to the highway and in fact, that's true. Of course, no one wants to get hit, but that doesn't mean they always look both ways!

In general Oman was much sleepier and more authentic than it's glitzy neighbor to the north. We spent most of the time at the hotel not only because we needed a vacation from our vacation, but also because The Chedi Muscat was so very beautiful - three pools, a brand new spa, green grass, palm trees, alfresco dining, real alcohol, and Cuban cigars for JSM! 

We did take a day trip to the Musandam Peninsula north of Muscat - the fjords of the Middle East

Spectacular scenery and one of the most relaxing days I've ever experienced.
