So, I see my last post on this blog was January 23rd! I have NEVER gone almost two months without a blog post, but I have good (and not so good) reasons. The bad news first.....my beloved Little Grandma passed away on March 1st 2012 after a difficult surgery which she wasn't able to fully recover from. I think of her everyday and I hardly believe it's true that I won't ever hear her sweet voice or see her beautiful face again. But, I am so grateful for all the wonderful memories I have of her throughout my life and I hope to be just like her when I get older! She lived in her own home, lunched at the club, and did things her way until the day she died. Until we meet again, Little Grandma.....xoxo!

Unfortunately (or fortunately for travel's sake) we heard of Little Grandma's condition after landing in Atlanta on our way home from the Middle East. Thankfully, we almost missed our connection to Portland and were able to quickly make it to Florida. I am amazed at how life works out sometimes....But, before we heard the terrible news we spent two wonderful weeks in Dubai, UAE and Muscat, Oman. Jeff had to work most of the time we were in Dubai so I spent the time with my sister and friends getting to know Dubai, shopping, sitting on the beach, and attending the Gulf Food Show. The real vacation began when Jeff and I drove to Muscat, Oman for a few days of rest and relaxation at The Chedi. We started the trip in Amsterdam, where we had an 8 hour layover. We visited the Anne Frank house and loved watching the city come to life. My favorite part.....all the bikes! I look forward to going back to Amsterdam soon!
Anne Frank House.....I barely recognized it from the photos I remember as a girl!
Amsterdam was a lovely city....I can't wait to go back!
To be continued.....
