Crafty Advent-ures
Advent. It was something I learned about in Catholic elementary school and promptly forgot about the second I was allowed to wear my very own clothes to sixth grade! So, last year I was feeling wistful, wanting to add a bit more meaning to my holiday celebration. I thought if I had a way to mark each week before Christmas it would mean more to me than rushing around, decking the halls, trimming the tree, addressing Christmas cards, baking cookies, and wrapping presents. It just so happened I was feeling crafty so I made my own Advent "wreath". It's not a wreath in the traditional sense because I got REALLY creative using a cake stand, plain candles, stickers and fresh cranberries. But, it's ours and the best part is I can pack it up and a year later pull out the cake stand, unwrap the candles, buy fresh cranberries....and voila! I have an Advent wreath a second year in a row. It's a relief really because things didn't quite go as planned last year and I never got around to lighting it EVERY week. So, I'm getting a do-over this year. Since I still don't really understand Advent I found this video very helpful and fun to watch......I love a little rock and roll with my Nutcracker. Jesus is the reason for the season, but if like me, you sometimes forget, take a look at this:
