Time Together

I think it's safe to say life has been pretty hectic the last month or so....between 2 jobs and other commitments there's been little time to myself, let alone time to blog. For that I am sorry, but I'm getting my swerve back! For the last year I've worked not only one job (which requires 2 nights and a weekend day every week!) but 2 jobs as a librarian. The 2nd job took up every other Sunday (or Monday, depending.) So, essentially, I was working 6 days a week 2 times a month. The experience was great (you'd be surprised at how different libraries are) but it's time to take my life back and my last day at that job will be next week. I'll still have my full time job which I love and I'll now have 2 whole days to myself (one with my sweet JSM.)  I'll have so much time I won't know what to do......go back to the piano? learn fundamentals of photography? improve my sewing? learn the violin? read more books?

Before I get ahead of myself we did make some time for fun this month if you can believe it! My sweet friend KS came to visit with her fiance RJ. They are so much fun and RJ is great! They came from the other Washington (DC, that is). KS and I went to high school together and we've been friends ever since we sat next to each other in French class in 1992 even though our lives took separate paths through college and adulthood. Elle est mon plus vieux firend et je suis tellement heureux pour elle! (She is my oldest friend and I am so happy for her!)  She is getting married in August and she traveled to the northwest with her husband-to-be and I think they loved it! Rumor has it she wants to move.....I hope it's true! While they were here we went to the Willamette Valley to taste wine and eat good food....

At White Rose....such a beautiful tree!

The best view of the day!

We also spent a little time exploring Portland......

Taking a break on Portland's park blocks...

A drink at the "waiting" restaurant for Pok Pok, The Whiskey Soda Lounge

Whiskey Soda Lounge, featuring the food and drink of Thailand

Pok Pok, it must be the best Thai restaurant in the country. Proof: another just opened in Brooklyn. Our table's favorite dish - peanuts, dill, cucumbers among other things. Such wonderful flavor!

The famous chicken wings.....ah-mazing!

A visit up to Washington Park to see the Rose Garden and views of the city.

This was such a great visit! Since KS and I have been friends for so long we pulled out old letters (yes, letters!) we used to send back and forth and it was so much fun to see who we were and how far we've come. My favorite part was realizing exactly why we've been able to maintain our friendship for so long - we are more alike than I ever realized! I'm so grateful for that....I love her! I can't wait to see these two again at their wedding in August in Napa. I look forward to celebrating love, friendship, and time together!
xoxo
