Phil's Fireside Photo Shoot

It's been gloomy here, I mean really gloomy here the last week. After the beautiful snow we had 3 really cold and windy days (30 degrees or less) followed by sheets of rain for 5 days. We even had big puddles in the backyard! So, we spent the evenings in front of the fire and Phil hung out in his favorite "sunny" spot underneath the reading lamp. He might be ruining the sofa by laying on top of the back cushions for 10 hours each day (he's 21 lbs.!) but he's so cute I don't have the heart to move him to a different spot.

I also decided to brighten up the house by tackling the "library".  Books make everything better! For months I have neglected the largest room in the house, the first one you see when you walk in the door, the one with the highest ceiling, and the wonderful window seat. It felt overwhelming so I put my focus on other rooms in the house. In the meantime, I amassed a large pile of books that just kept getting bigger and bigger. Most of them moved 3,000 miles with us, but when I purchased a copy of a book I already owned last December and didn't realize it until January I knew I had to do something about all these books! So, last weekend I added a couple bookshelves to the ones we already owned and now I finally have all the books put away and a place to sit and read them. There is still lots of work to do in the "library" but the sun is finally out so I'm saving those other projects for a rainy day!
