What a Difference a Weekend Makes!

I just enjoyed a three day weekend! For those of you who don't know I have a job that requires me to work two nights and a weekend day EVERY week and my standard schedule is Tuesday through Friday . JSM works a standard Monday through Friday work week. My regular, but irregular, schedule leaves me in a constant state of imbalance. I rarely go back to work on a Tuesday feeling refreshed since Sundays are busy with church and hockey, admittedly, both things JSM and I choose to be a part of. But still, they take away from time we could spend together. Add on top of that my second library job one Sunday a month and JSM and I have just three days together over the course of an entire month! So, the fact that I had a Saturday and Sunday off is a small miracle!  And one that I spent doing things I really enjoy: I finished a book, went to church, took a walk around the neighborhood to enjoy the changing season, took photographs, took a nap, and made cupcakes that are supposed to look like spaghetti and meatballs, but I'll let you be the judge of that one. In fact, it was one of the best weekends I've had since I started my librarian career. I don't know if it is because I finally realize, now that I have such little time, how important it is to spend your time wisely, or of it's just the extra hour we received this weekend (how convenient!) But one thing is for sure, the days are long, but the years are short and time is the most important thing we have. So, regardless of how much time there is every week or every weekend, it is important to spend it with those you love doing things you enjoy. That's the difference a weekend makes no matter what days they are!

We took a walk around the neighborhood and I brought my camera along. I'm so glad I captured fall on Brush Prairie. It is truly beautiful!

I love a Japanese Maple!

Our rustic neighborhood sign (although its really for the train conductor)

JSM found this really soft mossy thing on the ground.....I love nature!

OK, so they're not perfect, but this was my first try! I am hosting a cupcake decorating contest at the library next weekend and I thought I should at least see what I'm capable of. I will definitely do this again....
What fun!!
